York, PA – April 9, 2012 - Since the inception of the York County Racing Club’s Injured Drivers Fund, thousands of dollars have been paid out to assist YCRC member drivers who are unable to resume working and lose income due to injuries suffered while racing. Much of the club’s time is devoted to raising funds for injured drivers and many, many people and organizations in the racing community have come forward to help make this fund possible.
Each calendar year, YCRC allows a grace period for drivers to renew their memberships so that they will remain eligible for the fund throughout the early season racing in the unfortunate circumstance that it is needed. The grace period expiration for 2012 is just a few days away on April 15. After this date, any driver not paid for the 2012 calendar year will not be eligible for the fund until they pay their dues.
In addition to being a paid member of the club for the 2012 calendar year, the individual must be signed in as a driver and racing at the time of the accident to be eligible. Then if the driver is unable to race or work for ten days and after the proper documentation is completed, the driver will receive a check for $300.00. Each month thereafter, the driver will continue to receive a check for $300.00 for up to one year from the date of the accident or until the driver is able to resume working or racing.
More information about the Injured Drivers Fund can be found at our website, ycrc.org and a printable membership application form can be found on the Membership page. Please send a check along with the application to renew a membership or to start a new membership for those individuals not currently signed up.
Thank you to everyone who helps make the injured drivers fund possible. We could not do it without your generosity.
