It's what happens when you let a division go without rulebook clarity and enforcement. Car counts are dropping and will continue to do so. Know of a few former full time cars that are parked or are moving on to other tracks. You get better enjoyment out of taking a hundred dollar bill, torching it, then swinging a sledge at your car than "racing" there weekly.
If a hundred dollar division isn't worth teching than make it a claimer division. Costs will come down and car counts will go up again.
Its not really the high dollar engines either. You can win up there even if your down 40hp or so. The thing thats killing the FWD division is the few cars that weld their spider gears for positrac. We were always told that this was illegal, but it was never posted in the rules. Its a huge advantage but the worst part is its incredibally dangerous. A FWD diff is about 6-10 inches in front of your feet-unlike a rwd racer. All they need is one of those welded spools to explode(I've seen it happen before) and mangle someones feet when the parts pierce a stock firewall. Not the mention of the added expence of replacing stressed and broken axles weekly for a mere $100.00 to win.
Its a great entry level division when enforced. Cheap to build, fun to race, and most nights heats and features are completed in less than 15 minutes. Most hate to say it but its the entry level division of the future, RWD Monte Carlo's and Camaros are getting scarce to find anymore.
Dunn Hill2 safety inspects all the cars that run the first time you show up to race. After the feature the top 5 are chercked every race. And welding the spool is NOT allowed. There car counts are on the rise........

I agree and who's at fault? I feel that the burden falls on the track owners themselves since they have the final say. These beginner classes are to be fun, cheap, and places to learn how to drive. I think the track owners need to tell some constant winners it's time to move up or move on.

3000.00 dollar motors? where do you get your information..... maybe a few years ago when they would draw in a full field. Needing a 3k motor against a dozen cars in the current season would be silly.
