I wasn't taking any offense to what you said, I just didn't want it to come across as me complaining about other cars just because I haven't won yet this year. As for performance, well... It's tough to be in the top 5 all year one year and come back the next year and only finish 2 out of ten races. Some of it is bad luck and some is just not having the car right. I keep plugging away at it. I have 2 weeks off, one due to waiting on parts the other to prior engagements. Maybe a couple weeks off will be what I need to get back on track.

Livin the dream how can you tell rocker to do his home work. As i recall 28 was racing this year and last year with a good car that won a lot of races but had to update to WIN a race. So why not tell him to do his home work with his old car. This just shows if you dint spend a lot of money and keep updating your equipment you will be just average. 28 old car no wins in 2 years new car 2 wins in 7 races

First off, I think rocker is doing a commendable job and I like the way he thinks most of the time! I also think that a bit of stimulating banter goes a long way to get people thinking maybe outside the box as they say. As far as telling rocker to do his home work, thats easy. He is missing something, what ever that is may be something small, but the only way he can fix it is to go over the entire car to find something thus the phrase "doing your homework". The Smith team has built some real good cars recently but I can tell you for fact a they were not just thrown together, there was a LOT of research done before a single tube was bent and welded! As far as AY's old car and him doing his homework, well sometimes you have to put a good horse to pasture when a new stalion comes to town! But just to wrap it up, sometimes it's too easy to complain about the other guy and overlook the issues of your own car...

No offense taken LTD, I did not intend for my posts to come across the way they obviously did. I am not blaming my problems with a new car on someone elses car. On a side note, the homework is done, and found a few things and changesd them. Should be back on the track in 2 weeks and hopefully everything is working better. Things are really looking up for the end of the year and next year.. Working out a deal for a ride in a new car. Could possibly debut it end of August sometime....

benson you mentioned 400lbs of lead hanging on the back of those cars, you are right that isn't the best place for it, but with the 70's and early 80's style clip unfortunately that is where these cars are getting their best numbers, with a lighter front clip you can put it in better places to acheive those numbers, as far as the the rockers car it is a very nice car, one thing i did notice that is knocking off some corner speed is that the nose could be raised a little the right corner is digging into the ground in the corners, it goes like on the hell on the straightways just missing something in getting in and off the turns. if i am not mistaken the older hoosier tires i think aren't helping things either, like they are to hard or something. i actually need to watch it closer the next time it is there, keep in mind this is only my opinion, no one knows there car better than the guy thats works on it and drives it

My buddy tried that, never really got it to work. You can do it with leaf springs too. Not sure if it would be legal at CC. You have to float the right rear.

The problem I have been fighting is no side bite in the center. The car gets into the corner extremely well and I have good forward bite coming off, but, in the center it goes into a four wheel slide, tried everything we know to cure that with no success. Pretty sure we've narrowed it down to the tires. The D-30's aren't cutting it anymore. Ran them last year and had good luck, especially in the middle of the season when the track stayed dry slick, my tires would come to life just about the time everyone elses would start going away. This year the track has been keeping moisture well and I need to go to the E-mod style tire. As soon as I can afford to buy 4 new tires that is ;D

i made all the stuff to do it then sold the car (the fast boys thing ) and went mod racing , have been thinking about going back prostock racing got a couple ideas i would like to try. soften the old d-30's grind them, sipe the shit out of them, should help until you get some new ones. i have had better luck softening a 44 then running a softer compound, kinda like a 33 but doesnt give up after 10 laps

Ha .. Me too.. I waited til after the points were over last year and took a clamp on spring perch and made a birdcage out of it, did all the things the Fastboys set up required, then sold the car that week. The guy I sold it to, didn't want to try it so he welded up the clamp and ran it normally. It's not so much the softness of the d30, it's the sidewall stiffness. I have them softened and grooved and siped. Just time to pony up and buy some new ones...
